Izmail is a major Ukranian city near the Romanian border. It is also the namesake of Sedalia’s Izmail European Food & Coffee Shop, located on West Ninth Street, just past Walgreen’s drive-up window. Inside it’s stocked full of all sorts of extraordinary culinary delights from all over the globe. |
Managing partner, Lily Pistul, for whom English is a second language, actually speaks it fluently, but with a delightful East-European accent. She is totally familiar with every product in the store and is more than willing to take the time to help first-time customers choose among unfamiliar brands of Teas, baked goods, confections, meats and cheeses, canned fruits and vegetables, juices, pasta and much, much more. |

Having personally sampled a dozen or so offerings while gathering data and photos for this web page, our MySedalia staff pronounced everything mouth-watering good, good, good! The imported Russian chocolate bars with real raspberry or cherry filling were of as good or better quality than Ghirardelli. The $2.50 price is right in line, too. |
