This week Bruce was kind enough to appear on "Who's Cookin' in Sedalia" with a great recipe. He invited us in Friday to help plug his video, as well as our own site. While Bruce was cooking he commented on how much easier it would be if he had a food processor. That wish did not fall on deaf ears. Today we visited Bruce on the air and gave him his own food processor. He was overjoyed!
Sure, Bruce tries to be a manly man, drinking beer and playing golf, but he can't escape that girl deep inside who just wants to cook. Watch the video below as we present him with his new kitchen gadget and, if you watch very closely, you may see a tear in his eye.
While in the checkout line at a local store recently I got a phone call. I had a Bluetooth device in my ear and I talked quietly while the lady ahead was being checked out. When it was my turn with the clerk I told the person I was on the phone with that I'd call the back. I was now able to give the person standing in front of me my complete attention. I practiced some cell phone etiquette. Once, while at a local drinking establishment, a gentleman received a call during Jeopardy and proceeded to have a very loud conversation I should add that it is clearly posted that we watch Jeopardy and asked the patrons to please be quiet and join in. And do you know what was really annoying? He was a regular at this bar and knew the rules. Of course, this was an all-in-good-fun situation, but it does drive home the point. He, like so many others, showed no cell phone etiquette.
Here are 6 simple rules of cell phone etiquette:
Turn down loud or annoying ringtones. Most with loud musical ring tones are simply starved for attention. They may be trying to say something about who they are or trying to personalize their phone, but guess what? I don't care! I particularly don't like it when the phone rings and it's buried in a lady's purse and it takes her so long to find it that I've heard one whole chorus of "I Write the Songs" and she finds it just in time to find no one on the line. And I hate the stupid ring tones. How many times have you been somewhere and heard a scream so loud that it made you jump only to find out it's just some moron's phone. You're not funny. You're not clever. You're simply annoying. The type of people with these loud and annoying ringtones are akin to those that have unruly dogs or kids. They smile and grin as the dog jumps on you or the children run back and forth in the restaurant making all kinds of noise just waiting for you to comment on how adorable they are. Honestly, they're not adorable and you should not be proud.

While at the Sedalia Area Farmers' Market last Saturday I was drawn by a commotion toward the south end of the parking lot. Hysterical laughter and screams of joy emanated from a tent. People were practically rolling on the ground. I had to investigate. When I arrived at the scene I was greeted by a short, spunky woman with a red ball on her nose.
Vicki Weaver, a certified laugh club leader, proceeded to don me with a similar rhino prosthetic and began to tell me about "Laughter for the HEALTH of It." The following is from their website:
